Here's a link to my ongoing restoration..
http://www.merceforumet.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=473
All text is in Norwegian, but the pictures are chronological so..

But here starts the english version..

I got the car home on the 28. of april 2008..  Put some money down for it in march, but wanted to wait until the snow was gone, before I tried getting the car home..
Not to much to tell at this point.. Exept from the awful smell of brakes.. Front right, and rear left were ON.. So when I stopped, after 1,5 kilometer, wich luckily was the distance home, it was really smokin from the front right wheel.
And what a smell...

The car was owned for nearly ten years by a local "celebrity". The father of the guy who now rund the biggest tow-car company here in Arendal.
The car was well looked after all the time.. It even was put in a stretch and put back together after a small incident inlduding the front left corner.

DAY TWO...

They day were andrenaline has lowered, and mind starts to work properly again.. The first day, and the first trip is nothing short of a "Trip"..
Got a closer look on the car..

In short:
-Both front fenders are DONE
-Front left inner fender looks "not so good"..
-The right one looks a bit suspicious too..
-Both valance's look worn out too.. Solid sound, but not so good to look at.
-Rust under floor, mostly left front, but also some on the right.
-Rust under battery tray, and it's surroundings.
-Rusted fuel-lines.
-Quite moist on the floor, in the front.
-And some rust under the doors..
Also.
-Seems like a new lower left suspension-arm, with new bushings.
-The drivers door seem a bit off.. Meaning, adjustement..

May 10th 2008

Did a check on the engine before I move on..
The ignition was almost dead on.
The vacuum was very good. Diconnecting the hose to the brake-booster almost made the engine stop.
Also the engine ran nicely with th oil-cover open..Just laying there.
(Meaning no leak in compression..)
Dwell-angle was almost dead on too..

May 18th 2008

Have been working half an hour here and there.. And things get done..
Slow, but steady is better then nothing at all..
I'm an impatient guy on these things, but I must take it slow.
Anyway, seats are out..

And this is what it looks like in the front..

Lokking forward to remove the engine, but the 6 nuts on the manifold-junction are almost round.. Not 13mm, and not 1/2inch.. Got a 12mm hammered on to it.. But it wouldn't budge..

It's a tight sqeeze, so I need to get the manifold splitted somehow..

Also started looking for a way to drill out the welds for the battery tray..

Well. Had to chisel the nuts open.. They just wouldn't move with ordinary tools.
An extra obstackle was the little bracket down by the starter.. Two bolts in the starter, and one in the manifold.. Very "funny"--- not !

But eventually I got everything out..

Sometimes, when thing go slow.. I look for inspiration.. I found som here:
http://www.houtzager.net/album08

Also, since the front of the car was replaced many years ago, they used some kind of primitive tool to engrave the VIN, and I want it to look original. Like this:

So I'll se if I can do that job good, somehow..

Today, june 27th 2008 I dismanteled a lot of wires, and some parts too.
-The bracket for foot-operated parking-brake.
-Instrument-panel, including wires
-All wires in engine-bay are now loose.
-Wiper-motor
-Foot-operated washerpump
-Gas-pedal with alle links and joints.
-And at last, wire and handle for hood-release.

Also, the brakebooster was dismanteled. -Found a few deciliters of brake.fluid in there.. ?? Most likely a leak in the master-cylinder.

As usual, click on pictures for bigger edition.
